The Fight to Save The Jubilee Hall.

Beginnings

At a special public meeting held by Lesmahagow Community Council on the 22nd of June 2010, The residents of Lesmahagow decided that they should fight to keep the Jubilee Hall open.

Following this meeting, a committee was set up to look into the various options surrounding the Jubilee Hall and decide on the best way forward. Lesmahagow Development Trust have pledged to assist the "Friends of the Jubilee" (FOJ) in their efforts to save the hall.

Fundraising!

Friends of the Jubilee got off to a flying start in their quest to save the hall from closure. The first event, which was a ticketed dance and buffet with local band Not Big Not Klever playing live was extremely well attended by a cross section of around 140 members of the local community. This is a great example of how the hall is unique within the village as a performance space and shows that the hall can be put to effective use as an arts & entertainment related venue if given back to the community by the local authority. There are going to be more performance related events planned with a view towards raising a fighting fund to help save the "Jub". Watch this space for more info.
